TEHRAN (IQNA) – Quran memorizers from different countries continue to showcase their talents and skills in Jordan’s 14th international Quran competition for women.

The international Quranic event got underway in the Arab country’s capital of Amman on Saturday.

Representatives from 50 countries are taking part in the Quran contest.

The only category of the competition is memorization of the entire Holy Quran.

The race for the top prize is tight as most of the contestants have performed very well, making it difficult for the panel of judges to name the winners.

The last batch of contenders will go on to the stage to showcase their talents today, with the closing ceremony where winners will be announced and awarded slated for Thursday.

The Iranian representative’s turn to answer the questions of the panel of judges came on Saturday.

Roya Fazaeli was asked to recite from memory verses from Surahs Al-Baqarah, Al-Ma’idah, Ibrahim, Al-Qasas and Ash-Shura.

The memorizer told IQNA later that she was happy with her performance, saying she did as she had planned and practiced.

On the sidelines of the competition, the contenders have taken part in different programs such as visits to Jordan’s historical sites and saying prayers at the Grand Mosque in Amman.
